G’day, thanks for stopping in. My name is Ashlee and I run this blog. I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself. I am a mum of one beautiful little boy, married to my high school sweetheart for 7 years (together for almost 14 years) and we live in regional Queensland. I decided to start this blog because it is extremely hard to find blogs and recipes written by Australians, for Australians, in the style of cooking I enjoy. I love cooking from scratch and have spent many years learning how, but having to convert recipes to Australian ingredients and sourcing high quality ingredients that are available to us is always slightly challenging and time consuming. Where my family lives in reginal QLD is even more challenging as many ingredients need to be ordered online and shipped to our home, which delivery fees can be extremely expensive. I have become very good at sourcing all my ingredients from local farms, supermarkets and online stores.
My hope for this blog is to fill a gap in the Australian market for, what I like to call “farmhouse style cooking”. Rustic, farmhouse style foods are my favourite things to make. So many commonly used ingredients in American recipes (such as Einkorn flour) is next to impossible to get in Australia, so I have had to put my own spin on many recipes to make it work with what we have access to.
I will also talk about using non toxic cookware, like cast iron and stainless steel, caring for your cookware, sourdough baking, healthy cooking, healthy snacks (we love beef jerky in our house!), healthy kids lunch box ideas, and so much more.
